Alloway public library temporary closure 7 & 8 July
Alloway Library is set to close temporarily on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 July for essential maintenance.
The closure of the library will allow a new heating and air conditioning system to be installed over the two days, with the library reopening as normal on Wednesday 9 July.
The works are being undertaken by facilities management provider, Mitie, who are responsible for maintaining the building.
In anticipation of the closure, we have not scheduled any book returns on the closure dates. However, anyone who would like to return or borrow a book during the closure can do so at any Council library - Forehill Library and Carnegie Library are closest.
Plans are also being put in place to provide a book deposit box outside Alloway Library for any returns.
Councillor Alec Clark, Depute Leader and Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "Our libraries are hubs for the local community, so I am glad this will be a short closure. There are plenty of online options for library users, with audio books, ebooks, magazines and newspapers all available, please visit www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/libraries for more information."
Councillor Martin Kilbride, Buildings, Housing and Environment Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "Alloway library is a popular facility, and we have liaised with Mitie to keep disruption to a minimum. Contractors will be pulling out all the stops to get everything finished during the short closure. The end result will be a much more efficient heating and A/C system."
