Timeline of community engagement

2026

South Ayrshire Council supported Symington Community Council in the development of its next Community‑led Action Plan. Once again, the Place Standard Tool, recommended by the Scottish Government, was used for both the main survey and the children's version.

The main survey was distributed to Symington residents, while ensuring that the views of young people were also fully considered. Secondary school students attending Prestwick College who live in Symington, along with P4 - P7 pupils at the local primary school, were invited to share their views.

2022

In June 2022, the Symington engagement outcomes paper was published.

2021

The Community Conversations in Symington began in November 2021 and continued through to January 2021. The engagement consisted of a number of focused meetings with community groups as well as an online survey. The Scottish Government designed Place Standard toolkit was used to measure and assess the community's priorities. The scores given by each member of the community who took part were averaged to give an indication of priorities. A total of 118 people took part in the consultation including from 3 community groups and 88 online surveys.
