There are 3 channels of access to information the Council holds:
- The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) - came into force in 2000 and allows access to information the Council holds about you.
- The Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs) - came into force in January 2005 and allow access to information regarding the Environment, the state of human health, etc.
- The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) - came into force in January 2005 and allows access to all other records the Council holds that are not personal or environmental.
Each of the 3 channels differ slightly and there are some exemptions to the information that can be released. A fee may also be payable depending on the complexity and volume of the information being requested.
