South Ayrshire Swim Team
Information on the South Ayrshire Swim Team.
South Ayrshire Swim Team (SAST) is a thriving and growing swim club based in Ayr, Scotland. It was formed in 2001 when clubs from Ayr, Troon and Prestwick merged together to share resources and pool facilities to form a larger, more competitive and inclusive club which caters for young and older swimmers of all abilities. Working closely with South Ayrshire Council and Scottish Swimming, SAST is run by an elected Committee of parents, coaches and volunteers. SAST has a full-time Senior Head Coach, Byron Stericker, and a full-time Junior Head Coach, Brian Dalgleish, who oversee the coaching team and swim squads from Development through to Senior Performance level. Parent volunteers help to organise and run SAST meets as well as officiate as judges, timekeepers and helpers at other club at national meets.
How to join South Ayrshire Swim Team (SAST)
South Ayrshire Swim Team (SAST) are working in close partnership with South Ayrshire Council's (SAC) Learn To Swim (LTS) programme to establish a clear pathway from beginner to club swimmer within South Ayrshire. We aim to provide swimming opportunities for all swimmers.
If you are enrolled within South Ayrshire Council's Learn To Swim programme...
Swimmers within Club Ready are eligible to join SAST's Development Squads. This will be if the coaches feel that they are ready for additional training opportunities as well as our squads having available space. They can join one of our three squads.
If you are a swimmer coming from another provider....
Any swimmers external to South Ayrshire Learn 2 Swim programme can assess the below dates but must be able to swim 25m competently for each of the 4 strokes.
Assessment dates
