Additional Green Bin Service
This service is available to households who are unable to manage with a 240 litre 3 weekly general waste collection due to having a large family. To qualify for this service, you MUST have 6 or more permanent residents at the property. Please note we do not supply additional bins for pet related waste.
This service provides you with an additional 140Litre green bin and, an approved 2nd green bin sticker to indicate to our crew it has been authorised to be emptied. This will be emptied on your usual general bin collection days, along with your 240 litre green bin.
Supporting evidence
You will be required to provide proof of permanent residency for each resident listed at the address or we will not be unable to process your application. This can include:
- Driving licenses.
- Letters from schools, GP's, dentists etc.
- Child Benefit Award Letter.
- Utility Bills dated within last 3 months

Qualifying for this service
Qualifying for this service is based on householders complying fully with South Ayrshire Councils refuse and recycling collection system, and correctly utilising all bins provided (including food-waste). We will undertake spot checks of bins presented for collection to ensure ongoing compliance, and recyclable items found in your general waste bin will result in your bin not being collected and may result in residents being removed from this additional service.

- Purple lidded bin - Glass Bottles and Jars
- Grey Food Caddy
Did you know that approximately 35% of general waste is food waste. By using your weekly food waste service you could create additional space in your green bin.
If you do not currently use all recycling bins including food waste, you should not apply for this service until you have tried to utilise all recycling bins. Residents can request to have additional recycling bins and food waste caddies delivered to their property by clicking here
