Pay Council Tax
Information on how to pay your council tax.
Paying online
You can pay your Council Tax online, through our secure online payment facility, using most major credit or debit cards (not Diners Card or American Express).
Your 13 digit Council Tax account number is required to make a payment.
You can pay Council Tax online or by other methods such as by Direct Debit.
We do not offer discounted terms to any third party companies for collection of Council Tax or Business Rates. If you are contacted by anyone offering discounts do not pay them and call 0300 123 0900 and ask to speak to Trading Standards as this may be a scam.
Paying by Direct Debit
If you are already registered for Council Tax at your current address (i.e. you have been sent a bill in your name) you can set up a Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax.
Once set up your Direct Debit will continue until cancelled. It does not have to be set up annually and your Council Tax Notice will confirm that payments will be requested by Direct Debit.
We are required to give you 10 working day's notice of your Direct Debit instalments before we collect any payments therefore instalments will be calculated over the remaining months in the financial year.
You can also use this form to amend an existing Direct Debit instruction eg change your bank details, payment date (1st or 20th of each month) or number of instalments (10 or 12 months in the year).
If you are not already registered please use our change of address forms where you can also set up a Direct Debit.
If you'd rather set up your Direct Debit over the phone please call 0300 123 0900.
