Are you passionate about what happens in your local area?  Are you looking for a worthwhile and rewarding way to help your community?

Becoming a local councillor is your opportunity to make a huge difference to the lives of people in your council ward area.  

A Local Government By-Election will take place in Ward 3 (Ayr North) on Thursday 16 October 2025.

Councils need people with a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience, from all parts of the community, who know their areas well and understand what is needed to make a real difference locally.

So, is now the time to embark on your election campaign?  You can find out more at our pre-nomination information session on Wednesday 3 September at 4pm in County Buildings, Wellington Square, Ayr.   Candidates, agents, and anyone interested in standing in the by-election are welcome to attend.  

Nominations for the by-election will close at 4.00pm on Monday 15 September 2025.
