The winners of this year's Girvan Golf Classic have just been announced. Golfers from across the country took part in this prestigious competition which is played over three days.

The 36th Girvan Golf Classic was open to amateur male, female and junior golfers who hold a recognised WHS Handicap Index.

George Hunter, South Ayrshire Council's Assistant Director - Communities said: "We're delighted to see such a strong turnout for the 36th Girvan Golf Classic, with golfers travelling from across the country to take part. The standard of play over the three days was exceptional, and it was a great to see competitors of all ages and abilities showcase their talent on the course. Congratulations to the winners on their well-deserved victories, to those who took part in the competition, and thanks to everyone who made this year's event such a success."

Details of winners:

  • The overall champion with a winning scratch score of 198 and recipient of the Carrick Herald Quaich: Steven Stamper, Turnberry Golf Club
  • The winner of the Division 1 Handicap (0 - 13.9) competition and recipient of the Ailsa Shield: Chris McEwan, Port Glasgow Golf Club
  • The winner of the Division 2 Handicap (14 - 28) competition and recipient of the Maggie Milligan Trophy: Malky Swan, Girvan Golf Club
