Final Phase of Consultation Now Live - Scheme for Establishment of Community Councils
Published 15 December 2025
South Ayrshire Council is continuing to carry out a review of the current Scheme for Establishment of Community Councils, and Guidance for Community Councils.
Community Councils play an important role in local democracy by representing their communities where it matters most and helping to influence decisions.
Following two earlier rounds of consultation, responses and feedback have been reviewed and collated. We are now entering the final phase of the consultation and are seeking any remaining feedback on the proposed changes to the scheme.
We're looking to hear from local residents; Community Councils; Community groups and organisations; or anyone who may be impacted directly or indirectly by any proposed changes.
You can take part online or via a paper copy, and more details can be found here.
The closing date is Sunday 18 January 2026.
A final draft proposed scheme will then be submitted to Council for final approval in February 2026, with the intention that the new scheme will come into effect from Wednesday 1 April 2026.
