United States Air Force to return to 2025 airshow with C130J Super Hercules

USAF C130J

We're pleased to confirm that the United States Air Forces (USAF) C130J is set to return to The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight this year!

The USAF C130J Super Hercules from the Kentucky Air National Guard's 123rd Airlift wing will take to the skies above Ayr shorefront on Saturday 6 September as part of our thrilling lineup of aerial displays.

The iconic transport plane joined us at our 2024 airshow, wowing the crowds with its sheer size, grace, and presence. Last year, it was specifically tasked by the USAF to perform a series of special flypasts. We're excited to announce that at our 2025 airshow, the C130J will perform a full display to demonstrate the wonderful versatility of this phenomenal aircraft!

Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Brian Connolly said: "It's fantastic that we've been able to secure this impressive aircraft for our festival once again - this time for a full flying display. The crowds were thoroughly impressed by last year's flypasts, so I have no doubt that the crew will put on a show that's not to be missed."

Depute Leader of South Ayrshire Council and Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "I'm looking forward to seeing the return of the majestic Super Hercules to the skies over Ayr Shorefront, and I'm excited to find out what new thrills are in store for its full display. We've already got a phenomenal display lineup planned, with even more to be announced soon, so keep your eyes peeled!"

CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon, said: "We have been working closely with Prestwick Airport on inviting this C130J, and crew, to the air show for almost a year following its superb appearance in 2024. It is always a privilege and so very special to have this aircraft tasked by the United States Air Force and they were taken aback by the amazing and warm welcome that received from everyone on the Low Green. So, this year, we wanted to make sure that the crew were able to do a full display and demonstrate the aircraft fully."

The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight will be held at Ayr shorefront on Friday 5 September and Saturday 6 September 2025 with aerial displays taking place on both days, and a Festival Village full of fun for the whole family.
