Published: 27 November 2025
Seven secondary schools in South Ayrshire recently took part in the SPAR Future Stars Football Cup.
The event provided an opportunity for girls aged 12-16 years old to participate in a competitive, fun and inclusive competition for their school. The competition has two age groups categories including S1/2 and S3/4. Schools were invited to register for the local heats which took place on Thursday 20 November at Ayr's Riverside Arena with 100 girls taking part in the competition.
Teams from the S1/2 category that will now progress to the Regional Qualifier event taking place in March 2026 at the Riverside Arena in Ayr include Belmont Academy, Marr College and Prestwick Academy. Joining them from the S3/4 category will be teams from Carrick Academy, Prestwick Academy and Queen Margaret Academy.
The event in March 2026 will mark the second year in a row that our Health and Wellbeing Team has been selected to host the South West Regional Qualifiers.
South Ayrshire Council's Policy Lead for Leisure and Community Services, Councillor Chris Cullen said: "The SPAR Future Stars Football Cup is a fantastic competition that highlights the incredible talent of our young people here in South Ayrshire. It provides a great opportunity for girls from different secondary schools to come together and learn skills from one another, whilst also experiencing the excitement that a competition like this brings. I wish all the qualifying teams every success as they take on the regional event in March next year."
South Ayrshire Council's Policy Lead for Education and Lifelong Learning, Councillor William Grant, said: "Sporting competitions provide the chance for our young people to stay active while having fun. I'd like to congratulate all of the pupils that took part in the competition and wish the teams progressing to the Regional Qualifiers event good luck for their March games!"
