Short-term let licensing policy - have your say!

NEWS UPDATED

Issue date 3 November 2025

South Ayrshire Council is looking for feedback on their short-term let licensing policy. The policy sets out how the Council considers and then decides on short-term let applications.

The policy, which was introduced in October 2022, also details what's expected of anyone who operates a short-term let licence and the steps that can be taken should any conditions not be met.

We're now looking for the wider public to provide feedback and highlight possible improvements to the policy.

Councillor Martin Kilbride, Policy Lead for Housing and Property Services at South Ayrshire Council said: "I would encourage anyone with a licence, or considering a licence, to complete the survey. We also want to hear from the wider public as their views are just as important.

"There has been ongoing debate on issues such as the granting of temporary licenses, exemptions, and fees since the policy was introduced, but we welcome comments on all aspects of the current policy."

Survey results will be collated for Councillors as they consider changes to the existing policy.

This consultation closed on the 19th December 2025.
