Marr College Achieves Youth Voice 'Say It Out Loud' Level 3 Award

SIOL Award

Published: 2 October 2025

Marr College has become the first South Ayrshire school to complete the Thriving Communities Youth Voice 'Say It Out Loud' Level 3 Award. This was achieved due to the school's recent efforts in hosting a mental health and wellbeing event to raise funds for the Scottish Action for Mental Health charity (SAMH).

The 'Say It Out Loud' Award is a youth-led mental health and well-being framework, created by Thriving Communities and NHS Ayrshire and Arran, which supports young people's views on what issues affect them the most. Appropriate positive changes are then implemented into the school environment to support students.

To achieve the Level 3 award, the S6 Mental Health Ambassadors facilitated a Mental Health Week filled with a variety of activities and workshops and, due to its success, the school now plans to host the event on an annual basis.

South Ayrshire Council's Acting Director of Education Scott Mulholland said: "This is a fantastic achievement for the pupils of Marr College. They have shown innovation and a positive attitude in raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing.

"It's fantastic to see young people be pro-active about important topics like this and I would like to congratulate everyone involved in their efforts to lead the way in obtaining their Level 3 award."
