Dundonald Primary School and Early Years Centre (EYC) inspection report was recently released following an inspection in November 2025.

The report was extremely positive with both primary school and EYC receiving a 'very good' rating across all areas examined.

A team of inspectors from His Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) visited Dundonald Primary School and commended the head teacher, depute head teacher and staff for creating stimulating learning environments which support and include all children to engage fully in their learning.

The inspectors found that children were very articulate and highly respectful of each other and staff, engaged well in learning and in the community, and are confident and motivated to do their best.

The head teacher and depute head teacher were also praised for their support given to staff to provide consistent, high-quality learning and teaching. It was noted that staff use highly effective approaches to raise attainment for all children and as a result, children make very good progress as they move through the school.

Inspectors from HMIE and the Care Inspectorate visited Dundonald Primary's Early Years Centre and commended staff for providing high quality learning experiences in a calm and supportive environment. Inspectors also noted that EYC staff provided responsive care that promoted children's wellbeing, confidence and emotional security.

The EYC inspection report highlighted that children were happy, engaged and making very good progress in their learning, and as a team, the staff have high standards and strive to do the best for the children.

Fiona Paterson, Head Teacher at Dundonald Primary School and EYC said: "Here at Dundonald, we are extremely dedicated to providing high quality learning that allows our children and young people to thrive. I'm delighted that all our efforts have been recognised in this report, and I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of our staff, pupils and families for their continued support."

Councillor William Grant, South Ayrshire Council's Policy Lead for Education and Lifelong Learning said: "The head teacher and staff at Dundonald Primary School and Early Years Centre should be extremely proud of this achievement. The report displays the very high standards of teaching and learning taking place and I'm sure the headteacher and staff will continue to work with parents and the wider community to build on this success."
