Council achieves Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award
South Ayrshire Council was awarded The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award.
The ERS recognises employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate, or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community, and who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, a commitment to supporting Defence through services, policy, and projects.
The Gold Award is the highest accolade available to organisations that employ and support Reservists, service leavers, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and their families.
South Ayrshire Council has shown dedication to supporting the Armed Forces community through accessible HR policies. This includes offering Special Leave for Reservists for training and National Service.
Through large public events such as the annual Summer fAYRe with Armed Forces and Pipes in the Park and the International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight, the Council has pledged ongoing support for the Armed Forces, cadets, families, and veterans.
This follows South Ayrshire Council's long-term commitment to the Defence community, having previously been recognised with the Silver ERS Award which was revalidated in 2022.
South Ayrshire Provost Iain Campbell said: "I am delighted that South Ayrshire Council's dedication to supporting the Armed Forces community has been recognised through attainment of the ERS Gold Award. As an employer, we strive to do all we can to support our employees who have chosen to serve their country and who may be called upon for duties."
