Community Council Elections 2026 - Nominations Now Open
Published: 6 January 2026
Nominations are now open for South Ayrshire's 2026 Community Council Elections.
Community Councils are voluntary organisations set up and run by residents to act on behalf of their area. They play an important role in local democracy by working closely with Elected Members, helping to influence decisions made both locally, and at a national level to represent their community.
Once elected, Community Councillors will serve for a term of four years.
Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Brian Connolly said: "Community Councils are an important part of South Ayrshire's democracy by involving local people in the decisions being made within the areas that they live. Becoming a Community Councillor is a great way to express your communities' views and make change for the better.
If you feel you have great ideas for your local area and are passionate about making a difference, I encourage you to run for election."
