Calidus Autogyro to display at 2025 airshow
South Ayrshire Council is pleased to confirm the latest addition to The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight display schedule - the Calidus Autogyro!
Following his popular display at our 2023 festival, Peter Davies will return to the skies over Ayr shorefront on Saturday 6 September in the Calidus Autogyro for another thrilling performance.
Part aeroplane and part helicopter, this aircraft is truly unique in that its rotor blades have no engine. The blades are instead spun only by the passing wind as the autogyro moves through the air, powered by a propeller at the back.
The autogyro promises a truly fascinating display for airshow spectators, where Peter will show off his advanced piloting skills, pitching and yawing this small aircraft. He will even be able to take his hands safely off the controls and wave to the crowd through the glass canopy!
Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Brian Connolly said: "The Calidus Autogyro was a crowd favourite back in 2023, so it's great to be able to confirm Peter's attendance at this year's festival. The lineup for the airshow is strong already, and there's still more aerial displays to be announced. Make sure to keep an eye on our channels so you don't miss any exciting news."
Depute Leader of South Ayrshire Council and Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "It's fantastic to be able to confirm the return of the Autogyro to our airshow. I'm sure the unique performance will delight first time attendees, and returning visitors will be excited to get another chance to see Peter Davies' display."
CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon, said: "It is great that Peter is coming back to display this lovely little aircraft. The autogyro is a complete contrast to the loud fast jets and the big transport aircraft like the C130J that we will see from the USAF. For those that did not see his display when he appeared with us in 2023, they must make sure they see him this year. They will not be disappointed."
The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight will feature an action-packed lineup of aerial displays on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September. Visit our Festival Village on Ayr's Low Green for family fun on both days!
