Airborne Pyrotechnics to light up the South Ayrshire skies at 2025 airshow

Airborne Pyrotechnics

We're delighted to confirm another addition to this year's airshow lineup - crowd favourite display team Airborne Pyrotechnics!

The father and son team will return to The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight for the third year running, performing on both the evening of Friday 5 September, and putting on a daytime display on Saturday 6 September.

On the Friday evening, the darkening skies will be lit up by the LED lights and pyrotechnics attached to the tips of the aircraft wings.

The skilled pilots, Tim and Tom Dews, will take flight again on the Saturday afternoon, this time swapping out the pyrotechnics for smoke to perform a graceful display, painting patterns across the sky in their Grob 109b motor gliders.

Made from extremely light, strong, composite materials, these aircraft are superefficient hybrids, allowing them to fly like a normal aeroplane but also function like a glider.

Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Brian Connolly said: "With yet another strong addition to the flying display schedule for The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight, I'm sure excitement will be building amongst aviation enthusiasts ahead of the event. Airborne Pyrotechnics have put on a great show the last two years, and it will be a pleasure to have them back for a third!"

Depute Leader of South Ayrshire Council and Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "Given the popularity of their displays in previous years, I'm sure festival-goers will be excited to see the return of Airborne Pyrotechnics to the skies over Ayr shorefront. It's fantastic that we've been able to secure this wonderful display team for both days of our airshow."

CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon, said: "How could we not invite Tim and Tom back for a third year? They were so popular with everyone and they make such a superb and fitting end to our Friday evening. Who could forget the scene last year with the gorgeous sunset over Arran and the pyrotechnics lighting up the skies? It was simply breath-taking."

The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight will take place at Ayr Shorefront on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September 2025, with thrilling aerial displays on both days. Ayr's Low Green will also play host to a whole variety of great family entertainment and attractions at our Festival Village.
