Louder Together Pledge

Hear Us, See Us... Louder Together

South Ayrshire Youth Voice Pledge

South Ayrshire Youth Voice, Thriving Communities and Education and our local Youth Voice groups came together to create the Youth Voice Louder Together Pledge to highlight the importance of youth participation in local decision making and how to engage with young people effectively.

Local young people created our Youth Voice Pledge and at our Youth Conference November 2025, below are the differences young people wish to see:

Louder Together

Providing various Youth Voice opportunities for all children and young. It is important to put specific support practices in place to ensure those not part of Youth Voice Structures still have a platform to express their opinions. This can be via events, school or online.

1.     Decision Making

Young people wish to participate in service-led decisions, such as those concerning: Education, School Meals, Council Budgets. When including young people in crucial decisions, it's essential to communicate and collect their opinions through interactive and creative methods.

2.     Your Voice Matters

Valuing the knowledge of young people,  using their views effectively to make change and promoting the difference made.

3.     Honest and Realistic

Young people wish for adults to be clear and direct. If you cannot meet their wishes, explain the reasons why and if possible seek a compromise.

Engage with young people in a way that they understand while consistently showing respect.

4.     Useful Resources

Consult using various methods and using language relevant to young people (cut out the jargon)

For those with additional support needs, provide Communication-Friendly Resources and implement a variety of communication focused training programs

5.     Engaging Content

Young people expressed a preference for consultation and feedback through face-to-face interactions. Receiving feedback through a 'You said, We did' approach is crucial.

6.     Uphold Standards

Be aware of your audience and have the correct attitude and behaviours when working with young people

7.     Support Opportunities

It is important when consulting with young people to do so within their spaces and where they feel most comfortable

Young people enjoy coming together for events and meeting other young people

It is important to young people to provide the same opportunities for ASN and other minority groups.
