Thriving Economy Service Privacy Notice
This statement provides more details about how we will use your personal data when you contact and engage with the Thriving Economy Service.
As the 'data controller' for the personal information - or data - we hold about you, South Ayrshire Council decides how your personal information is used/processed, and what it is used for.
Your personal data - what is it?
Personal data is information relating to a living person who can be identified from that data. Identification can be based on the information alone, or in conjunction with any other information. The processing of personal data is governed by the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and supplemented by the Data Protection Act 2018.

We will only collect the personal information we need to provide you with relevant information, services and support. The personal data we will collect can include:

How will we use your information?
All personal data collected is processed by Thriving Economy and Thriving Communities Administration staff. We will only collect the personal data we need in order to deliver the services you require. This includes:
- Business support/advice/promotion/development
- Grant funding, e.g. processing and confirming your application eligibility
- Delivery of Thriving Economy Programmes/Initiatives e.g., Ambition Programme, Prestwick Aerospace which includes the Operational Group (PAOG)
- Advice on funding for training and upskilling opportunities
- Services to promote South Ayrshire as an investment destination to improve the local economy e.g. Invest South Ayrshire, Regional Economic Strategy
- Services to support economic research, e.g. statistical data internally for South Ayrshire Council and Externally for the Scottish Government
We may also collect your photographic image for inclusion in case studies to promote support and achievements to any South Ayrshire Businesses. Should you choose to provide your photographic image, it will only be used for the purposes explained in the Council's Agreement Form, should you choose to complete this.
As part of our continuous service improvement, we may ask you to complete an evaluation form to provide feedback on the support and service provided to you. Completion of an evaluation form is entirely voluntary, and any information you choose to provide will be handled in accordance with our privacy notice.
What is the legal basis for using/sharing your information?

Please note once information has been shared it cannot be unshared. For example, if you have agreed that we can use your image in our case studies, we cannot retract that use. We can however ensure we no longer use your image in the future, should you choose to withdraw consent. |
Who will we share your information with?
To provide the services we offer, we may share your personal information between Services within South Ayrshire Council and other partners who we routinely work with. These include, but are not limited to:
- Business Gateway
- UK Government, relative to funding, including case studies
- Scottish Government and its Agencies, relative to funding, including case studies
- Other Council Services, e.g. Finance, Planning and Building Standards and Procurement
- Elected Members, e.g. case study data, business name and support
- Other Local Authorities, e.g. East and North Ayrshire through the Regional Economic Strategy
- Educational providers, e.g. colleges/universities
- External partners and consultants, e.g. Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service, Scottish Enterprise and Prestwick Aerospace Operational Group (PAOG)
The Council is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers, and to this end may use the information you have provided for the prevention and detection of fraud. It may also share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.
How long do we keep hold of your information?

What are your rights?
The lawful basis for processing/using your personal data directly impacts which rights are available to you. For example, some rights will not apply, if we are processing your data under public task (Article 6 (1) (e)) we are not required to:
- erase your personal information
- enable the right to data portability
However, you do have the following rights and can ask us to:
- correct your personal information if it is inaccurate;
- complete your personal information if it is incomplete;
- restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances
