Communities Fun Day back for 2026

South Ayrshire Council's award‑winning Communities Fun Day is set to return on Saturday 16 May 2026.

Organised by the Council's Housing Service, Thriving Communities and Sport & Leisure teams, the free event will take place at Ayr Academy and Riverside Sports Arena, once again bringing together an exciting mix of activities, attractions, and live entertainment for people of all ages.

The popular 'Fun Zone' will be filled with non‑stop action, including funfair rides, giant inflatables, and live stage performances. Those looking to try something new can take part in canoeing taster sessions, while thrill‑seekers will be able to test their skills in the Nerf Battle Arena.

An impressive display of classic cars, trucks, military and emergency service vehicles will also be available, offering something to capture everyone's interest throughout the day.

Alongside the activities, the 'Information Zone' will give South Ayrshire residents the opportunity to find out more about local support and services available from a range of Council services, partner organisations, and local charities.

South Ayrshire Council's Depute Chief Executive and Director of Housing, Operations and Development, Kevin Braidwood said: "There's so much on offer at this year's Communities Fun Day, from activities and entertainment to opportunities to find out more about local services. It's a fantastic day out for all ages and we would encourage anyone who lives or works in South Ayrshire to come along and join us."

A free shuttle bus service, provided by Stagecoach will operate from Ayr Bus Station and Burns Statue Square at various times throughout the day, stopping at the Communities Fun Day bus stop on Craigie Way/Beech Grove.

Free parking will also be available for those travelling by car in the University of the West of Scotland car parks. Further transport and parking updates will be shared via the South Ayrshire Council Housing Services Facebook page.

Please note that the event is open to people who live or work in South Ayrshire only. To attend the Communities Fun Day, you must book your free tickets in advance. Tickets will not be available on the day.
