Council's Property Maintenance Team Named 'Best Performer' at APSE Performance Network Awards 2025
South Ayrshire Council's Property Maintenance team has been named the UK's Best Performer in Building Maintenance at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Performance Network Awards 2025, following a high-profile awards ceremony in Blackpool.
The team proudly accepted the prestigious national award at the ceremony on Thursday 4 December, in recognition of their outstanding performance, with 97.6% of repairs completed on target. Their success reflects effective staff training, the use of an efficient work-scheduling system, a strong safety-first culture, and a new multi-skilling approach that helps maximise first-time fixes and deliver efficient, joined-up services.
APSE is a not-for-profit local government body working with over 300 councils throughout the UK. The APSE Performance Network Awards recognise the best performing and most improved local authorities across the UK, celebrating excellence and innovation in frontline services.
Councillor Martin Kilbride, South Ayrshire Council's Policy Lead for Housing and Property Services, said:
"Winning Best Performer in Building Maintenance is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work, professionalism and dedication of our Property Maintenance team.
"They play a vital role in keeping homes and buildings safe and well maintained for our communities, and this award shows the high standards they deliver every day."
