Provost and Depute attend Remembrance Services

Remembrance 25

Provost Iain Campbell and Depute Provost Mary Kilpatrick attended a number of services to mark Remembrance Day 2025.

On Sunday 9 November, Provost Campbell visited Maybole Cenotaph where he took part in the Act of Remembrance laying a wreath at the monument.

Afterwards, Provost then visited Fisherton Cemetery for a special service where he also laid a wreath and gave a speech. Canadian Armed Forces personnel attended the service to carry out an Act of Remembrance for the 14 Canadian airmen from World War II who are laid to rest in the cemetery. The Royal Canadian Air Force also commemorated the service by carrying out a 'fly-past' in the CC-130J Hercules aircraft.

Depute Provost Mary Kilpatrick attended a service at Ayr's Auld Kirk on Sunday 9 November where she read a lesson and then joined the parade to the Cenotaph in Wellington Square where she laid a wreath. Depute Provost then rejoined the parade to the Scots Guard Memorial in St Germain-En-Laye Gardens for the Act of Remembrance and laid a wreath at the War Memorial.

Both Provost and Depute Provost also attended the Remembrance Day service on Tuesday 11 November at Wellington Square and observed a two-minute silence at 11am in remembrance of those who lost their lives in service.
