Councillors vote to appoint Provost, Leader and Depute Leader

At today's Special Council meeting, Councillors voted to re-elect Councillor Iain Campbell as Provost of South Ayrshire Council.
Councillors voted in Councillor Brian Connolly as Leader of the Council and Councillor Alec Clark was elected as Depute Leader.
A further Special Council meeting will be held at 10am on Friday 23 May to determine any changes to Cabinet Portfolio Holder positions.
Provost of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Iain Campbell, said: "It's an honour to be re-elected as Provost of South Ayrshire Council under this new leadership. It is my privilege to represent the people of South Ayrshire in this role and I look forward to continuing to fulfil the duties of the Civic Office."
Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: "I am pleased to take on the role of Leader of South Ayrshire Council. It's been a challenging time for the Council recently, and I will make it my priority to steady the ship and focus the administration's attention on realising the priorities of the Council Plan and delivering for our residents and communities."
Depute Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Alec Clark, said: "I am delighted to have been selected as Depute Leader of the Council. I now look forward to working with the new Leader, my colleagues in the administration and Council officers to deliver for the people of South Ayrshire."
