South Ayrshire Council Launches Participatory Budgeting Fund

Participatory Budgeting Open Now May 2025

South Ayrshire Council is inviting local community groups and organisations to apply for a share of £70,000 in funding, available through our Participatory Budgeting initiative which is supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The £70,000 fund will be distributed across four localities:

  • Ayr North
  • Ayr South and villages
  • Prestwick, Troon and villages
  • North and South Carrick

Community organisations are encouraged to apply for funding to deliver projects that align with the priorities outlined in the 2024-2027 Community Learning and Development (CLD) Partnership Plan. These priorities are:

  • Adult and Family Learning
  • Financial Inclusion
  • Youth Work
  • Community Development

Funding is open to community organisations, charities, voluntary groups, and social enterprises — including both constituted and non-constituted groups — that are based in South Ayrshire or support local residents.

Applications are now open, with funding awards ranging from a minimum of £500 to a maximum of £2,000.

Councillor Bob Pollock, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Economic Development said: "We're putting the decision making into the hands of the people who know their communities best, encouraging grassroots involvement and supporting projects aligned with our Community Learning and Development Partnership Plan. I'm excited to see the ideas and initiatives that emerge from our communities, and we strongly encourage groups of all sizes and backgrounds to apply."
