Thriving Communities Supports Development of Community-Led Action Plans

NEWS UPDATED

South Ayrshire Council's Thriving Communities team continues to play a vital role in supporting local community councils by helping to develop Community-Led Action Plans across the area.

These action plans set out a shared community vision, identify local priorities, and outline the practical steps needed to achieve meaningful change. Typically, the plans address a range of social, economic, and environmental themes that matter most to residents.

Officers from our Thriving Communities team have been working closely with community councils and local groups to provide guidance, resources, and hands-on support throughout the planning process — ensuring each plan reflects the unique needs and ambitions of the local area.

Recent examples of completed Community-Led Action Plans include those from Monkton; Crosshill, Straiton and Kirkmichael; and Tarbolton. All of these documents are now available to view on our website https://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/article/61741/Community-Planning-FAQ

This is part of an ongoing effort to make sure every community has the opportunity to shape its future. Our Thriving Communities team will continue to collaborate with communities and local groups across South Ayrshire to develop community led action plans.

Councillor Bob Pollock, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: "It's fantastic to see the progress being made through the development of Community-Led Action Plans across South Ayrshire. These plans reflect the voices of local people and provide a clear direction for positive change within our communities.

"I'd like to thank our Thriving Communities team for their continued support in empowering community councils to shape the future of their areas. We look forward to working with even more communities in the months ahead."

Councillor Alec Clark, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Rural Affairs, said: "Our rural communities are rich in character and full of potential, and I'm delighted to see these plans being developed within these areas.

"These plans are already having a positive impact, and we're committed to continuing this support so that every rural community in South Ayrshire has the opportunity to thrive."
