Council up for top housing award

South Ayrshire Council is in the running for a top award at the CIH Housing Awards 2024.

The Council's 'Your Choice Lettings and Property Management' service has been shortlisted in the prestigious 'Excellence in the Private Rented Sector' category.

Established in 2021, the Your Choice Lettings and Property Management service matches private landlords and tenants. The service operates in a similar way to a commercial lettings agency, but with a focus on providing security, quality and affordability. 

Councillor Martin Kilbride, Buildings, Housing and Environment Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "To be shortlisted for this award is a major achievement. 

"Over the past three years your choice has gone that extra mile to develop strong and supportive relationships between the Council, landlords and tenants.

"Understanding the needs of each of our tenants and offering them alternative housing options is key to preventing homelessness in the Private Rented Sector.

"This is great recognition for a very important service, and I wish the team all the best at the finals."
