Girvan Golf Classic Competition 2024 - Winners Announced

The winners of this year's Girvan Golf Classic have just been announced. More than 80 amateur golfers took part in the prestigious competition.

The 35th Girvan Golf Classic took place from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 September and was open to amateur male and female golfers (including juniors) who hold a recognised Handicap Index.

Details of winners:

The winner of the Div 1 handicap (0-13.9) Ailsa Shield was Jim McCusker of Troon St Meddans with a score of 192. The runner up with a score of 195 was Ian Torrance of Largs Golf Club.

The winner of the Div 2 handicap (14-28) Maggie Milligan Trophy' was Brain Boyd of Maybole with a score of 190. Daniel Bryson of Ayr Seafield was runner-up, with a score of 194.

The scratch competition and the Carrick Herald Quaich winner was Steven Stamper of Turnberry Golf Club with a score of 196. The runner up with a score of 202 was Liam James of Lee Park.

Councillor Brian Connolly, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, said: "I'd like to thank everyone who took part in this year's Girvan Golf Classic. Congratulations to the winners - the quality of play at this year's competition was outstanding!

"A great weekend was had by all, and this couldn't have gone ahead without the hard work of the organisers who ensured the competition ran smoothly and safely."
