Council building shortlisted in RICS regional awards
South Ayrshire Council's new net-zero building at Bridge Street Depot in Girvan has been shortlisted for a RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) regional award.
The RICS Awards showcase the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure, while recognising outstanding achievement, teamwork and companies.
Our super energy efficient building, which officially opened in December 2023, is in the running for the Public Sector Project award.
The category A+ energy performance certified building provides office space and vital welfare facilities for the area's Grounds Maintenance, Waste Management and Golf operational staff.
The awards judging process is already underway. Regional events will be held in May and June to announce which shortlisted project will be put forward as a finalist in the national event in October.
South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Buildings, Housing and Environment, Councillor Martin Kilbride, said: "The Bridge Street Depot project was the first of its type for the Council. It's an impressive project that has highlighted the Council's commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.
"Our Professional Design Services team pulled out all the stops on this project. So, it's fantastic to see their innovation, hard work, and determination recognised by way of being shortlisted in the RICS regional awards."
