National honours for Council staff
Two South Ayrshire Council Sport and Leisure staff received awards from the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) at their National Presentation of Honours 2023.
Alistair Jardine and Jill Jamieson were both recognised at a prestigious prizegiving ceremony in Coventry, which Alistair attended.
The awards take place annually and recognise the work of those who contribute to reducing drownings across the UK and Ireland. RLSS UK promote water safety and educate people in lifesaving skills, dating as far back as 1891.
Alistair Jardine, Facility Supervisor, received the 'Certificate of Recognition' for his continued contribution. He said: "It was an honour to be recognised for my work promoting water safety and the work done by RLSS."
Jill Jamieson, Leisure Attendant, received the 'Certificate of Thanks' which is awarded for 4-8 years' service to RLSS UK. She said: "I have been a teacher/assessor for South Ayrshire Council for many years, and I was pleasantly surprised and flattered to be recognised in this year's awards."
Councillor Brian Connolly, Sport and Leisure Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "I'm delighted to see two South Ayrshire Council staff recognised for their continued contributions to keeping our community safe. Alistair and Jill should be very proud of their achievements."
