Opening of Cutty Sark Centre to be held on Saturday 13 May

South Ayrshire Council are pleased to announce the opening of the Cutty Sark Centre on Saturday 13 May from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
The official opening event will host fun for all the family, including activities such as face painting; Bookbug sessions; performances from local artists and a few more surprises on the day!
The dedicated space, which sits beside the river Ayr at the bottom of Ayr High Street, will be used to celebrate local art, history and culture.
£5m was spent on the project which included the demolition of 8-10 high street, site clearance, rebuilding of the historic quay wall, extensive landscaping, and construction of the new community building. Esme Noble from the nearby Ayr Grammar Primary School won the competition to name the building 'The Cutty-Sark Centre'.
Councillor Alec Clark, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs said: "The Cutty Sark Centre has certainly opened up the whole area to the historic River Ayr and brought leisure and life back to the bottom of Ayr High Street. The opening event is set to be a fantastic day showcasing all that the facility has to offer."
