Experienced motorcycle riders had the chance to brush up on their riding skills at an event organised last weekend by Ayrshire Roads Alliance and North Ayrshire Council.

The free event, held in Irvine, involved slow manoeuvre activities, and observed rides delivered by advanced riders from road safety charities IAM and RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents), as well as a presentation on safe motorcycle riding by Roddy Benzies, an ex-police instructor.

Representatives from Police Scotland's road policing unit and the three Ayrshire Councils were there on the day to answer any questions and to provide information about joining IAM or RoSPA.

Riders were also given the opportunity to test their knowledge of the Highway Code with the highest score winning a small toolkit.

Councillor Bob Pollock, Economic Development Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "We want to keep motorcycle riders and all road users as safe as possible, so this was a great opportunity to make even the most experienced riders aware of the latest road safety information. Thanks to everyone who came along and took part in what was a very informative and successful event."
