Ayr Grammar open evening
Ayr Grammar Primary School and Early Years Centre is having an open evening on Tuesday 15 November. The school on Fort Street, will be open to ex-pupils and other interested parties from 6:30pm-7:30pm.
The school moved into the former Ayr Academy building in 2020, following extensive renovations. The transformation was recognised the following year when the school picked up an award from the Glasgow Institute of Architects!
This is your chance to look around the award-winning school which was originally constructed in 1880. Many of the school's period features and architectural gems still remain - these will no doubt be appreciated by former pupils.
Visitors will be given a map which they can use to explore, and staff and pupils from Ayr Grammar will be on hand to talk about their school.
Councillor Stephen Ferry, Education Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "Ayr Grammar missed out on an official opening as we were in the middle of the pandemic, so this event winds the clock back. We want to give people the opportunity to look round the school and appreciate all the changes as well as the familiar. Staff and pupils have waited a long time to show off their school, and I am delighted the open evening is taking place."
Gail Gilbert, Head Teacher said: "It's great to welcome people into our school and be able to showcase the refurbishment first hand. We love our new building, and we hope everyone attending the open evening enjoys the experience."
Limited parking may be available at the school on the evening.
