Scotland Loves Local South Ayrshire Gift Cards can only be spent within South Ayrshire, thereby supporting local businesses, strengthening South Ayrshire high streets and protecting local jobs.

The gift cards uses Mastercard technology and you can accept payment in the same way that you would accept a debit card with a magnetic strip.

The gift cards do not use chip and pin (tap payment) technology but instead magnetic strip technology. Swipe the card to receive payment (up to the total value loaded on the gift card).  If you do not have a terminal which accepts swipe payments you can accept 'customer not present' online payment.  Familiarise yourself with your device app to ensure that you are prepared for any payments to be accepted in this way.

What to do if a Scotland Loves Local South Ayrshire Gift Card Declines

If a Scotland Loves Local South Ayrshire Gift Card declines, you can respectfully support your customer by asking the following questions:

Q: Did you activated your gift card yet?

Eligible households were issued with two letters in November 2022 to the lead liable Council Tax account holder. Their first letter contained a unique activation code.  Their second letter contained their gift card with instruction on how to activate their card.  Until a gift card is activated it cannot be spent.

Q: When did you activate your gift card?

Gift cards are valid for 12 months from the date of activation.

Q: Do you have sufficient balance on your gift card?

The customer can check their balance at any time by:

  • Scanning the QR code on their card - this will take them directly to a link to open to display their balance;
  • Or they can visit www.getmybalance.com - the customer must have their 16 digit card number and their 6 digit card security code (both found on the back of their card) to hand;
  • Or the customer can call the balance enquiry number on 0121 260 2849 - they must have their 16 digit card number and 6 digit card security code (both found on the back of their card) to hand.
