Girvan Golf Classic Competition - Winners Announced
The winners of this year's Girvan Golf Classic have just been announced. More than 80 amateur golfers took part in the prestigious competition.
The 33rd Girvan Golf Classic took place from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 September and was open to amateur male golfers who are members of a recognised golf club and holders of a senior handicap.
The winner of the handicap (0-13) Ailsa Trophy was Liam James of Lee Park Golf Club with a score of 193. Andrew Kirk of Loudoun Gowf was runner-up, with a score of 195.
The winner of the handicap (14-28) Maggie Milligan Trophy' was David Stevenson of Girvan Golf Club with a score of 196 (BIH). Stevie Milligan of Deaconsbank Golf Club was runner-up, with a score of 196.
The winner of the scratch competition and the Carrick Herald Quaich was Alan McLean of Largs Golf Club with a score of 194. Steven Stamper of Girvan Golf Club was runner-up, with a score of 198.
Councillor Brian Connolly, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, said: "I'm glad to see the Girvan Golf Classic return for another successful year. This competition always attracts some of the best amateur golfers from across the UK, and 2022 was no different.
"Well done to all the winners and everyone who took part! I would also like to thank the organisers for ensuring the competition ran smoothly and safely."
