Ship Sanitation Inspection

Ship Sanitation Inspection

The requirement for a ship sanitation certificate has been implemented in Scotland by the Public Health (Ships) (Scotland) Regulations 1971, as amended, and includes the checking of:

•Water supply

•Food safety

•Pest control

•Structure and equipment

•Swimming pools/Spa pools

•Waste disposal

•Crew accommodation

•Medical facilities

Ships on an international voyage require to have a valid ship sanitation certificate. Certificates are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

Fees and charges apply for ship inspections.

In line with many other local authorities and port health authorities within the UK, we apply the recommended scale of charges as agreed by the Association of Port Health Authorities.

Ship Sanitation Certificate Fees from 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2023:

We also provide a ships water sampling service which can be part of the Ship inspection (as above) or it can be requested on its own even if no inspection is required. The samples will be taken and then submitted for bacteriological or chemical examination to the laboratory.  There is an additional charge for this service.

To request a ship sanitation inspection or water sampling please contact us at least 24 hours prior to the proposed inspection time.
