2022 winners announced for the Troon Golf Weekender

This year's winners have been announced from the 62nd Troon Golf Weekender. The competition saw over 300 amateur golfers compete over the challenging courses.

The Troon Golf Weekender competitions were played across Darley, Lochgreen and Fullarton Golf Courses between Friday 26 - Sunday 28 August and were open to amateur golfers who have a recognised CONGU handicap. Competitors played over the links courses, competing for a number of historic trophies and generous prize funds.

There were five different competitions, including the showcase Mills Quaich & Troon Rose Bowl Tournament, with £3,500 prize money to play for across all events.

The 2022 winners were:

· Mills Quaich: The winner was Colin Goudie (Tam o'Shanter GC), with a score of 145. Jim McCullagh (Kilmarnock Barassie GC) was runner-up with a score of 147.

· Troon Rose Bowl: The winner was David Ellison (Ellesmere GC), with a score of 137. Elliot Masterson (Northenden GC) was runner-up, with a score of 138. 

· Open Stableford Competition: The winner was Stan Livsey (Ashton & Lea GC), with a score of 40. Ewan Dowse (Whitecraigs GC) was runner-up, with a score of 38.

· Charles Buchanan Veteran Shield: The winner was Stephen McLafferty (Carrick GC), with a score of 64. Andrew Gibson (Ayr Belleisle GC) was runner-up with a score of 68.

· Open Mixed Foursomes: The winners were Lynn and Paul McMahon (Colville Park), with a score of 59 (Better Inward Half).  Dawn Anderson and Robert McMahon (Colville Park) were runners-up with a score of 59.

Trophies on the day were awarded by Depute Provost Mary Kilpatrick.

Councillor Brian Connolly, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, said: "I'd like to congratulate the winners and all of the competitors who took part in this year's Troon Golf Weekender. This is a challenging competition across our great Troon golf facility and the standard of play was extremely high."
