You are entitled to a life free from abuse. No-one deserves to be abused, so it is not your fault in any way, no matter what excuses or reasons your partner may use to shift the blame for his actions on to you or someone else.

If you or your children are in danger call 999Report domestic abuse.

South Ayrshire Women's Aid is an all women, confidential charitable organisation which provides information, support and refuge for women and any accompanying children who are experiencing domestic abuse.

You may also want to find out about support for children who are at risk of harm.

If you are worried about becoming homeless we can help you find emergency housing and South Ayrshire Women's Aid can give advice on being homeless and domestic abuse as well as provide refuge.

You may need to get legal advice and there are organisations that can support you through the court process.

  • Exclusion order - when your partner is not allowed in your house.
  • Interdicts - gives your partner rules about contacting you or family members.
  • Non-harassment order - stops someone from harassing or stalking you, even if they are not your partner or ex partner.

The law is quite complex so you should speak to South Ayrshire Women's Aid.

You can access information about health or local healthcare by attending your local GP surgery or by visiting NHS24. Information on family planning/sexual health services can be found by visiting Sexual Health Ayrshire.

Moving On Ayrshire offer adult survivors of sexual abuse and rape free one-to-one counselling.
