Problem solving
What is problem solving about?
The Community Safety Partnership is committed to developing the problem solving approach within communities, as a useful and successful way of involving them in community safety and antisocial behaviour issues. We also try to encourage communities to continue using this approach to identify ongoing action and to work together to develop safer communities.
The Problem Solving process uses the IDPARTNERS model developed by Sixth Sense Training. All members of the Community Safety Team have been trained in using this process. IDPARTNERS ensures that groups work in a structured way. Other additional important factors considered are 'Who shares your problem?' and 'Who doesn't share your problem?'

Projects and initiatives have been developed through the Community Safety Partnership Joint Action Groups and have included SafeAyr (tackling town centre violence and anti-social behaviour), Safer Shores (tackling beach related violence and anti-social behaviour during the summer months), BonfireWatch (tackling fire and firework related anti-social behaviour in the period leading up to and immediately after 5th November) and Ayr Town Centre Festive Campaign (increase in policing in Ayr Town centre in the lead up to Christmas).
The process has also been used successfully working with communities to deal with antisocial behaviour and community safety issues in their area. A number of problem solving groups have been set up involving community members and other agencies in relation to Vehicle Nuisance at Blackburn Road car park in Ayr, Youth Disorder in Dundonald and Off Road Vehicle nuisance throughout South Ayrshire.
