The future's bright - festive lights funding now open for bids
It may be the height of summer, but it's also time for community groups across South Ayrshire to start thinking festive! Bidding for funds to procure festive lighting from approved suppliers is now open.
Every year residents look forward to the magical sparkle that the festive light displays bring to our towns and villages. Thanks to our investment in this fund, the area is set to look even brighter this year, as communities will be able to bid to secure more decorative lighting, displays and Christmas trees.
Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA) will continue to play a key role in supporting communities to get the most from their displays. The team test, erect, install, maintain and dismantle Christmas and festive lighting displays annually.
As part of the bids process, community groups have to take factors such as: storage; energy, installation, transport and removal costs; ongoing electrical compliance testing; and public liability insurance into consideration. A full breakdown of the criteria is available on our website and it's quick and easy to make a bid via our online form.
The closing date for bids is Saturday 31 July 2021.
Councillor Peter Henderson, Leader of South Ayrshire Council said: "Thanks to the ongoing hard work of the Council, ARA and community groups, we can once again look forward to an illuminated South Ayrshire later this year.
"Festive lighting brings joy to young and old across our communities, and these funds provide a fantastic opportunity for community groups to bid to further enhance their light displays."
