Airports and baggage handlers relief (aviation)

Airports and baggage handlers relief (aviation)

As part of the action taken to support businesses affected by the outbreak the Scottish Government has confirmed that the 100% COVID-19 Retail, Hospitality, Leisure and Aviation (RHLA) relief will be extended for the whole of the 2021/22 financial year.

While there are no changes to eligibility from last year, an application will now be required for this relief in 2021/22 and, where the council deems your property eligible based on the information provided, this will be awarded and will appear in your Non-Domestic Rates annual bill for the Financial Year 2021/22 (subject to the Bill having being issued after the award, otherwise a revised Bill will be re-issued).

Those businesses that were awarded the relief for 2020/21, and the Council consider may be eligible for 2021/22, will be contacted inviting them to apply for the relief for 2021/22 - the link to the downloadable application form is shown at the bottom of this page.

This relief does not replace other reliefs but will be added to them up to a maximum of 100%.

100% relief is available for non-domestic properties situated at a listed airport (i.e. Glasgow Prestwick) and wholly or mainly used to provide one or more handling services for scheduled passenger flights.

Handling services in relation to aircraft includes:

·         De-icing;

·         Re-fueling;

·         Moving aircraft; and

·         Waste servicing.

Handling services in relation to aircraft passengers includes:

·         Allocation of seating;

·         Handling of baggage; and

·         Supervision of boarding.

If you consider that your business meets the above criteria please download and complete the Icon for word Airports and baggage handlers relief application form (aviation) [96.47KB] and return by email to business.rates@south-ayrshire.gov.uk.
