Information and learning resources you can access free of charge in the library using public access PCs or own devices.

Births, Marriages and Deaths Archive Search from the Ayr Advertiser: 1803-1835 | This online index is a joint project between South Ayrshire Council Libraries Service and Opportunities in Retirement Family History Group Ayr. It is available in the library using one of our public access PCs or from home. |
FindMyPast.co.uk | The library has taken out a subscription to Find my Past which enables users to have free access to English and Welsh records and the Scottish Census using the PCs in the Local and Family History department. |
SCRAN | SCRAN is a charitable learning resources base with over 360,000 historical images, movies and sounds from museums, galleries, archives and the media. |

A website and APP offering free access to 1700+ ebooks. It offers non-fiction texts, general fiction and culture and history learning materials in Ukrainian. Aimed at supporting Ukrainian children in their learning and facilitating access to important educational resources. It also has educational materials to help native Ukrainian speakers learn new languages. Library membership not required but registration requires email. |
Computers in libraries
In order to ensure that a PC is available we do recommend that you book in advance. Please contact your local library by phone, or book a PC online using the option below.
You will need your library card number and PIN to do this. Please view the council's ICT acceptable use policy (PDF) [723KB] .
Free Wi-Fi is available in all our libraries
We use the South Ayrshire Council Public wi-fi service which is available in all our libraries and across many of the council's public buildings.
Headphones
If you would like to listen to something on our PCs you will need to bring your own headphones,
Printing
All our PCs are connected to laser colour printers. We are currently allowing free printing but the maximum number of pages allowed is 5.
Scanners
Scanners are also available on some PCs' for those requiring electronic copies of images or documents. If you require to use a scanner please mention this when you are booking your PC, as not all of our computers have a scanner connected to them.
