ExplorAYR 12-14 September
Date of release 14 August 2025
Get active and ExplorAYR this September! Taking place from Friday 12 to Sunday 14, there are lots of free activities to try.
Why not have a go at canoeing, learn about bushcraft, or maybe archery is your thing? Add guided walks, cycling skills and beach yoga into the mix and there really is something for everyone!
ExplorAYR starts on Friday 12 September at Rozelle Park in Ayr. Running from 4pm-8pm, there will be sports sessions, bushcraft classes and even a bat walk!
Burns Museum is the main venue on the Saturday from 12 noon-4pm. Here you'll find guided cycling and walking tours, BMX skills workshops and stalls galore!
There are also a number of talks taking place on the Saturday. You can hear about wildlife encounters on the Ayrshire Coastal path, find out more about the Ayrshire Link project, or enjoy some live music from the Junkman Choir.
On Sunday 14, the Millenium Bridge at Greenan shore and Belleisle Park take centre stage with a focus on getting active in our natural spaces, coastline, and rivers.
Activities running from 10am-4pm include mountain bike skill sessions, canoeing, paddleboarding, and beach yoga!
Councillor Brian Connolly, Leader of South Ayrshire Council said: "ExplorAYR is a community-focused event which celebrates active travel across South Ayrshire. Walking, wheeling, cycling and other activities, are good for the body and the mind, so we're hoping people come along and embrace a more active lifestyle."
Councillor Martin Kilbride, Buildings, Housing and Environment Portfolio Holder said: "This event is a great opportunity for people to get to know Ayr, be active and celebrate sustainable travel all at the same time. We've been working closely with partners to make the event possible, and I would like to thank everyone involved."
All activities are free, but some must be booked in advance. For more info and to make a booking visit https://clubspark.net/ActiveSouthAyrshire
