Doonfoot Primary School and Early Years Centre praised in latest school inspection report

Doonfoot Primary School and Early Years Centre recently received a positive inspection report from Education Scotland.
In February 2025, inspectors from Education Scotland visited the school and nursery class where they talked to parents, carers and children and worked closely with the head teacher and staff.
The inspection praised the headteacher for providing the staff with a clear and ambitious vision for the school. The highly skilled staff were also commended for their enthusiasm in developing their skills and knowledge, and their effective use of local community partnerships which lead to real-life contexts for learning. It also identified that staff provide a positive, inclusive, and caring ethos which results in children feeling included and proud of their school.
The report highlighted the leadership of the depute manager in the Early Years Centre and the work of the skilled practitioners.
Across the school, children are confident and respectful, and demonstrate the school values, developing their leadership skills through a wide range of successful groups, clubs, and committees.
Councillor William Grant, Education Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "The head teacher and staff at Doonfoot Primary School and Early Years Centre should be extremely proud of this glowing report. As a result of their strong leadership, children and young people can experience a nurturing and engaging environment for learning.
"It's fantastic to see the school getting recognition where it's due, and I'm sure they will continue to work with parents and carers, children, and the community to build upon this success; maintain high standards; and address any areas for improvement."
