Timeline of community engagement:
- October 2021 to December 2021 - public consultation with the Ballantrae community using the Place Standard Tool recommended by the Scottish Government.
- June 2022 - Ballantrae and Lendalfoot engagement outcomes paper was published.
- In December 2023 a small steering group drawn from the Ballantrae Planning Group which represents The Community Council, The Community Association, The Ballantrae Trust, Ballantrae Parish Church, the Kings Arms Community Pub and Hub and other local businesses was responsible for developing the 2024 - 2029 Community Action Plan which was published in June 2024.
Present:
The Ballantrae Trust commissioned an independent company (Community Enterprise) to help them create a new community action plan (there had been 2 previous plans - the last one expired in 2018). Funds to develop the community action plan were sourced from ARIA, the Ayrshire Rural and Islands Ambition, the Scottish Government, and the Ballantrae Community Fund.
Community engagement (involving public meetings including visiting local groups and the Primary School, online and paper surveys) recorded the views of over 200 people.
The documents (below) are the final version and the summary of the Ballantrae Community Action Plan which comprises 6 main themes and 30 projects.
Two well attended workshops involving the village groups (most likely to be involved in delivering the projects), were held in October 2024 and March 2025. In addition, steps have been taken to get feedback from the village's young people on what they think the priorities should be. All of that information will be collated to create short-, medium- and long-term plans. Many of the projects have already been started.
