Get ready for Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day provides us with the opportunity to show our gratitude to the Armed Forces community who work tirelessly to keep us safe in the UK and abroad.
Throughout the COVID-19 outbreak, the Armed Forces have provided critical services to those who need them most. They have run test centres, delivered temporary medical facilities and distributed PPE. This is just some of the work they have carried out to support our communities during this crisis.
While the pandemic has meant planned celebratory events have been cancelled, we will show our support by raising the flag at County Buildings on Saturday 27 June. There are many ways that people can get involved and pay tribute to our Armed Forces from home, including #SaluteOurForces.
South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie said: "Each year, Armed Forces Day highlights the amazing work of our military personnel.
"Our Armed Forces have played a critical role, providing essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their planning and logistical knowhow has proved to be invaluable throughout this crisis.
"I'd encourage everyone to take a moment on Saturday to remember past sacrifices and the important role our Armed Forces still play in keeping us safe."
