New Asymptomatic COVID-19 test facility coming to Maybole
A new Mobile Test Site has been set up in Maybole to help tackle the 'silent spread' of COVID-19 in areas where the virus is more prevalent.
The test site is located at Carrick Academy, Kirkoswald Road, Maybole. This will allow a targeted programme of testing to be carried out on those who are not displaying symptoms of the virus.
The facility will operate by appointment only and will be open as follows:
- Saturday 23 January – 10.00am – 6.00pm
- Sunday 24 January – 10.00am – 6.00pm
Tests are free, quick and easy, and you can expect results back within 24-48 hours. Traffic management will be in place at and around the site.
You can book an appointment online from 6.00pm on Friday 22 January at https://www.nhsinform.scot/test-and-protect (please select 'No, none of these symptoms' when prompted), or by calling NHS Inform on 0800 028 2816 if you don't have internet access. Morning appointments will be open for bookings the evening before, and further slots will be released on the day itself for afternoon appointments that same day. If you can't get an appointment to suit straight away, please keep trying as new appointments will appear regularly.
Asymptomatic testing is crucial to slowing the spread of coronavirus. The introduction of the new Mobile Test Site will make it possible to identify more people who are infected with COVID-19, allowing them to isolate quickly and limit the spread to others.
Councillor Peter Henderson, Leader of South Ayrshire Council said: "The asymptomatic Mobile Test Site in Maybole provides another opportunity for us to break the chain of infection in South Ayrshire, and I would encourage as many people as possible to make use of the resource this weekend."
If you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, you should book a test at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or call 0300 303 2173 if you don't have internet access.
