It was a community effort to decorate the Christmas tree at Elba Gardens in Ayr recently. Staff from Dobbies Garden Centre in Ayr donated the tree and lights — joining with the Council to spread festive cheer.
With armfuls of festive baubles school children at Newton Primary had lots of fun making the tree sparkle. Residents at the Council's homeless hostel and staff also joined in to dress the tree and have some fun. The hostel provided refreshments and hot food to keep out the cold.
Councillor Philip Saxton, Housing & Customer Services Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council: "It was great to see the local community come together and it really captured the spirit of Christmas. The tree looks fantastic but this was also about bringing people together and breaking down social barriers. Well done to everyone that took part and a big thanks to Dobbies and Council staff particularly Hostel Support Worker, James Skilling for organising this."
Dobbies commented: "Dobbies Ayr is delighted to donate this Christmas Tree and Lights to such a fantastic cause. We hope this brightens Christmas for Elba Gardens. We wish you all a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
