In this year of young people, schools across South Ayrshire are making great strides in embedding the rights of the child in school life.

Troon Primary School delivered a strong win in the 2018 South Ayrshire Maths Contest, organised by Edinburgh-based education technology company Sumdog. The school saw two classes placing in the top five, and eight out of ten of the top individual students in the regional competition. Commencing on the 16th March, the week-long contest saw 1028 pupils from 71 classes at 22 schools in South Ayrshire competing to win a coveted trophy and the title of South Ayrshire Sumdog maths champions 2018.
Burnsfest – South Ayrshire Council's headline live music festival – takes place at Rozelle Park on Saturday 5 May 2018 and offers a packed programme of free live music and attractions for all the family.
March was another busy month for the civic office and with so many events taking place South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie, and Depute Provost William Grant were out and about celebrating individuals and organisations who do so much work to help put something back into our communities.

Proposals to breathe new life into the old Ayr Academy are being put to the public. An exhibition is being held at Ayr Town Hall on Thursday, April 19 to highlight plans to relocate Ayr Grammar to a new home on Fort Street.

A powerful exhibition exploring the issues facing Scotland's sex workers opens in Ayr this month as part of a national tour. The Inside Outside exhibition, a joint event from the Encompass Network and South Ayrshire Council, runs between Friday, 20 April and Sunday, 29 April 2018.
