Making a splash - New Council sport and leisure mascots

During the Easter break, children across South Ayrshire will be keeping their eyes peeled for the Council's new sporty mascots. The larger than life figures will be out and about encouraging young people to try new sports and get active.

The characters, a boy and girl complete with an array of sporting outfits, have already been seen trying activities which are available during the Council's Easter Activity programme running from Monday 3 April until Saturday 15 April.

The two-week programme which includes: athletics, archery, caving, diving, football, footgolf, inflatables, orienteering, roller disco, rugby, swimming, and tennis is the perfect opportunity to introduce the colourful characters to the public.

Jill Cronin, South Ayrshire Council's Head of Enterprise Development, and Leisure, said, "Our activity programmes are always well attended but the mascots are a great way to get even more young people involved. The new characters will be attending events such as the Scottish International Airshow, Holy Fair and school sports days to help promote our extensive and exciting range of facilities and sporting activities."

The Council is planning to run a competition on Facebook to name the mascots, more information will be available shortly at www.facebook.com/sportandleisuresouthayrshire
